The Transaction Origination Manager is responsible for identifying, qualifying, and cultivating M&A opportunities aligned with RWT Capital's mandate, with a primary focus on transactions of $20M and above. This is a relationship-driven, business development role; the successful candidate will be the main point of contact for prospective clients and a key driver of deal flow into the firm.
- Proactively identify and target business owners involved in transactions of $20M+ in deal value across North America.
- Build and maintain a robust, active pipeline of sell-side and buy-side opportunities
- Track and manage all prospect interactions and pipeline activity in CRM
- Develop and execute outreach strategies across industries relevant to RWT's mandate
- Cultivate long-term relationships with business owners, accountants, lawyers, private equity firms, and other referral sources
- Serve as a trusted, credible point of contact for prospective clients who are exploring or considering a transaction
- Represent RWT Capital at industry events, conferences, and networking functions across Western Canada
- Monitor sector trends, M&A activity, and deal dynamics relevant to RWT's focus industries
- Identify emerging opportunities and proactively flag them to senior leadership
- Maintain awareness of competitive landscape and relevant buyer/seller activity
- Conduct initial discovery conversations with prospective clients to assess fit against RWT's transaction criteria
- Prepare preliminary briefings and opportunity summaries for internal review
- Facilitate a smooth and professional handoff to the deal execution team once a mandate is established
- 5 - 10 years of experience in M&A advisory, investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, or senior business development.
- Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field (MBA or CFA asset.)
- Established network within the Western Canadian business and professional advisory community.
- Demonstrated track record of sourcing or originating transactions.
- Strong financial acumen and comfort discussing transaction structures, valuations, and deal processes at a high level.
- Proficiency with CRM tools and a disciplined approach to pipeline management.
- Relationship-driven with a hunter mentality; proactive, persistent, and personable.
- Executive presence and credibility with C-suite and business owner audiences.
- Self-directed and entrepreneurial - comfortable working in a lean, high-performance environment.
- Strong communicator, both written and verbal.
- Commercial acumen with a deep understanding of the mid-market M&A landscape.
- High integrity and discretion; this role operates in confidential, trust-based environments.
RWT Capital Corp. offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience.
Specific compensation details will be determined based on the successful candidate's experience, network, and capabilities. A performance-based incentive structure aligned with deal origination outcomes is anticipated.
